God’s Path and Foundation

Travis Lulay knows that his job as quarterback for the BC Lions is different from most jobs, but he believes some of the pressures and frustrations all people face are the same.
“There is a lot of pressure in my job to perform and be productive, but there is the same pressure in lots of jobs,” he says. “There are always outside pressures like family and finances. If it wasn’t for my faith being the foundation of what my life is built on, things could begin to crumble in a hurry.”
Lulay believes taking shortcuts and doing whatever it takes to get ahead can be dangerous.
“There is always a great temptation to get caught up in other things and to get involved in other outlets that can lead a person down the wrong path.”
Lulay knows that his faith and trust in Jesus Christ keep him from falling into behaviors that could be devastating to his life. “I know I have to surround myself with a community of like-minded believers that can help encourage me and remind me where our strength comes from when times are tough,” he says. “It is also important to take time to connect with God individually through
prayer and studying the Bible.”
Lulay says Proverbs 3:5-6 has provided him strength and confidence in God’s plan for him on several occasions. “Putting your trust in God can be a difficult thing, even for me, but because God can see the end result in mind and knows the purpose He has for us, which includes knowing him on a personal level, it can relieve us of that burden of guessing and not knowing.”
Having a personal relationship with Christ is more than just a “tool to make you feel better about yourself,” says Lulay. “Our faith gives us strength in this life and prepares us for eternal life. That is more important than anything we receive here.”
Lulay knows the life he has experienced in Christ is true and gives him a purpose and a peace that goes beyond the understanding of this world.
