Fun on the Court
So on Tuesday we had our second day of training camp that went extremely well. The girls were really starting to warm up to us and were talking more and asking more questions. It was really cool to see them become more comfortable talking to us. After we were done for the day we invited three of the German girls to come play in the game we had that night. It was the most fun that I have had playing basketball in a while.
I think the thing that made the game so enjoyable was because our AIA team was filled with the Holy Spirit. Before we stepped out on the court we invited the Lord to come and play with us and we felt his presence! We were full of energy and everyone was having a blast, even if I made really bad mistakes I was able to brush it off and move on to the next play without beating myself. Typically I am the type of player that gets really worked up after a bad mistake and shut down mentally so for me to move on with such ease was truly an act of God. I think the best part of the game was looking down the bench and seeing an integrated team that was just having so much fun. After the game the German girls came up to a few of us and told us that they have never had so much fun watching and playing a basketball game before which was pretty cool. After the game it was pretty sad because Kenzie was leaving in the morning to go to her friends’ wedding. It stinks that she had to leave before the tour was over, but I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet such a wonderful person. She will be missed dearly over these next few days because of her personality and hilarious comments. I am hoping that our game on Thursday will be just as fun as tonight’s because playing with God in my game has made a huge difference and allowed me to enjoy the game of basketball again. I am so blessed to be here with these amazing people and am so thankful for the laughter and memories we have shared. – Elle
